The Studio’s Governing Body has announced that Principal Ruth Bradbury will be taking up the interim position of Principal of UTC@MediaCityUK in Salford at the end of October. Vice Principal Colin Grand will step up on an interim basis as Principal at the Studio. It is expected that these arrangements will remain in place for the whole of the 2017-18 academic year.
The Studio is in its fifth year of operation and we have seen year on year growth in student numbers. We are graded as ‘Good’ by Ofsted and in 2017 achieved our best ever GCSE and A Level results.
Ian Clark, the Chair of the Local Governing Committee wrote to parents to inform them of the news, saying:
‘We are announcing today that the Local Governing Committee has agreed to the secondment of the Studio School’s founding Principal Ruth Bradbury to become the Interim Principal of the University Technical College MediaCityUK in Salford for the remainder of the current academic year.
Colin Grand, the Studio School’s experienced Vice Principal will step up on an interim basis to lead the Studio School for the remainder of the current academic year. These arrangements will commence from the forthcoming October half term.
Aldridge Education and the Darwen cluster of Aldridge schools have had a long standing partnership with the UTC@MediaCityUK since its opening in 2015. Ruth’s successful experience leading the Studio since its establishment in 2014 will be invaluable for the UTC and her secondment will support the UTC until it recruits its permanent Principal in 2018.
With the support of our staff and cluster partner schools we are confident that Colin and the Studio School team will continue to grow the Studio and continue to provide students with the successful specialist education it offers in creative digital, technical digital, health, social and child care’.
Aldridge Education’s Executive Principal Brendan Loughran said ‘Aldridge Education and our schools locally have supported the UTC from its inception up to the present day. The UTC is at an important stage of its development and it makes sense that we step in and provide the necessary interim support. Mr Grand and the team at the Studio will be supported by me and our local and national team, and we are confident that they will continue the great work taking place there’.
