Introduction and aims for pupil premium students
The Pupil Premium (PP) is an addition funding provided by the government (from the Department for Education, or DfE) to enhance the education of the most socio-economically deprived students as identified by those with an entitlement to free school meals (FSM), students in Local Authority care (CLA), and students whose parents serve in the military. The guidelines for how to spend this additional funding are to use research-driven initiatives to close the gaps between the attainment and progress of disadvantaged students and other students by overcoming the barriers faced by disadvantaged students in our community. These barriers include a lack of a ‘road map’, lack of parental engagement, lack of self-confidence and a lack of people precedent. Pupil premium funding is used to support any activity that will directly address these barriers.
