Care Sector
The care sector courses are designed to give students a breadth and balance in a suite of 3 qualifications that prepare a young person with the skills, knowledge and understanding of a range of roles in industry. Coverage is from cradle to grave and gives hands on and theoretical study in equal proportions.
At KS4 students study level 2 qualifications in -
BTEC Health & Social Care Level 2 for 3 hrs per week.
BTEC Child Development Level 2 for 3 hrs per week.
GCSE Citizenship for 3 hrs per week.
The above courses complement each other to enable students to transfer skills and knowledge across courses.
At KS5 students study Level 3 qualifications in –
BTEC Health & Social Care Single Award Level 3 for 6 hrs per week.
BTEC Health & Social Care Double Award Level 3 for 12 hrs per week.
BTEC Child Development Level 3 for 6 hrs per week.
The above courses carry a mandatory placement element. We have strong links with local businesses to offer you a placement in childcare and health and social care settings including local nursery settings, Health Watch, Food Power and Sustain; where you will have the opportunity to be involved in making policy and nationwide changes. We also ensure all our KS5 students experience a days training at NHS training facilities.
